吾國仙道，舊有南北兩派。南派始於浙江天台之張紫陽，北派始於陝西終南之王重陽。至明嘉靖時，陸濳虛著方壺外史，大闡玄風，世稱爲東派，而本書作者李涵虛，則羣目之爲西派。西派傳代有九字：西道通大江東海天空。
