光緒嘉興志引鄺世培馬鳴王廟碑記云：神姓裴名璩，唐廣明中官浙西藩鎭，會黃巢由湓寇浙，公力戰卻之，此土弗没，而廟食以報其功。新唐書：黃巢犯浙西，時節度使裴璩斬其二長，殱其黨眾賊大沮喪，乃詣天平軍乞降。
