A Complete Study of Commercial Shop Fengshui (Esoteric Edition): From Form School and the Luopan to Xuankong Dating

A systematic account of commercial shop fengshui built on the traditional arts themselves — exterior form school (luantou), the Twenty-Four Mountains, Three Cycles Xuankong plotting, doors/paths/registers, annual date selection, Five Phases remediation, and worked case studies.

XXXVI. Worked Example Five: A Jewelry Store with the Compass Straddling the Line

This section is a fictional example, showing how to avoid a forced conclusion when the direction measurement is uncertain.

1. An Anomalous Reading

Suppose a jewelry store's reading at the metal door frame jumps between 261 and 271 degrees, straddling exactly two mountain boundaries; ten meters outside the store, three readings give 266.8, 267.1, and 266.9 degrees, and the interior parallel-wall axis measures 267 degrees. Near the door frame sit an anti-theft magnetic sensor, a steel beam, and a large metal display case.

One should not take the extreme value of the door-frame's jumping reading and use it to manufacture a claim of "empty and vanished." The exterior reading and the interior axis should be taken as primary, but since the final value still sits close to the boundary, the report marks it as a sensitive borderline case, plots the two neighboring charts separately, and does not arbitrarily pick whichever one looks more auspicious.

2. What the Two Charts Agree On

Suppose both chart A and chart B show that the main door's palace should not be given more Fire, and that the northwest rear is suited to stillness and solidity in both, with the difference lying only in the facing-star combination of the candidate register positions. Act first on what they agree on: no strong, high-heat lighting at the door; solid support kept behind the safe and bookkeeping area; sharp-cornered cabinets rounded off; the main passage kept clear of any straight pass-through. For the disputed register position, hold off on installing a fixed stone counter, and test with a movable, code-compliant cabinet instead.

3. A Re-Measurement Plan

Bring in qualified surveying data to verify the building's true axis, move any movable metal cabinets aside after closing, and turn off non-essential equipment before measuring again — though security equipment must never be shut down long-term for the sake of a fengshui reading. Record the readings under each different condition; if the value still sits on the boundary, continue keeping both charts on record. Traditional judgment can accept uncertainty, and should never substitute a practitioner's "feel" for actual measurement.

4. Putting Jewelry-Trade Use into Practice

Jewelry carries strong Metal and strong light and fire, and the clash between Seven-and-Nine Fire and Metal especially needs close attention. The counter lighting should serve accurate color rendering, and should not be dimmed below what the work requires purely to reduce Fire; decorative red light can be reduced instead, with an earth-toned display base used as a moderate pass-through. The security and safe area weighs the mountain star and its support; the customer display area weighs the facing star and the door and path — the two should be kept in separate zones.
