Detailed Analysis of Zi Zuo (Self-Sitting)
Zi Zuo is a BaZi charting term referring to the Twelve Stages of Growth state of a Heavenly Stem upon its Earthly Branch.
Basic Concept
In BaZi, each pillar consists of a stem on top and a branch below. The stem "sits" upon the branch. Which of the Twelve Stages the stem occupies on that branch is the pillar's "Self-Sitting" state.
Calculation Method
Look up the stem's Twelve Stages table to find its state on the sitting branch:
- Example: Jia sitting on Zi → In Jia Wood's cycle, Zi = "Bathing" → Self-Sitting = Bathing
- Example: Bing sitting on Yin → In Bing Fire's cycle, Yin = "Birth" → Self-Sitting = Birth
Special Significance of Day Pillar
The Day Pillar's stem is the Day Master; its branch is the Spouse Palace. The Day Pillar's Self-Sitting state reflects both the Day Master's seated strength and hints about the marital relationship.
